No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Two women were arrested with fake Indian currency worth approximately ₹4 lakh in West Bengal’s Malda district. The arrests were made under the jurisdiction of Kaliachak police station during a joint operation carried out by Golapganj outpost and Kaliachak police. The raid took place in the Dulaltola area late at night, where the accused were detained and fake notes recovered from their possession.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mumtaz Bibi, a resident of Baishnabnagar police station area, and Jasmin Khatun, from Motabari police station area. According to officials, the two women were caught with a significant quantity of counterfeit currency. The notes were seized during a search conducted on the spot after their detention in Dulaltola.
Police have not yet confirmed the source of the counterfeit notes or the destination where they were intended to be supplied. The investigation is ongoing to determine the origin, manufacturing point, and distribution network of the fake currency. Authorities have initiated further questioning of the accused and are examining possible connections to other areas.
